Returns on investments
DFA's farmer-owners benefit from investing into the Cooperative. In return for their financial contributions, farmers receive a share of the profits of the Cooperative annually. As owners of the Cooperative, they're invested in dairy manufacturing plants and national and locally loved brands throughout the country. This investment produces returns that go back to them and creates additional markets for their milk.

Legislative voice

Field staff visits
Our talented staff of field representatives work directly with farmers to address milk quality, herd management practices, and animal well-being. Representatives regularly visit every farm and are always available to answer questions.

Gold Standard Dairy Program
One of the first in the industry, our Gold Standard Dairy Program is an on-farm evaluation program that exists to support DFA farmer-owners in the areas of animal care and wellbeing, workforce development, land and environmental stewardship, and milk quality.

Support for young farmers
Focused on personal and professional growth, our Young Cooperator (YC) program gives farmers ages 18–45 the opportunity to learn about the latest innovations in the industry and network with peers. Through meetings and exposure to other industry organizations, they become the next generation of advocates and leaders for DFA and the industry.

Leadership development
Our Emerging Leaders program is a two-year curriculum that develops future leaders of our Cooperative and the industry. The program focuses on skill development and introduces the latest class of young leaders to the business of the Cooperative.
