A QUICK GUIDE TO MILK OPTIONS THAT FIT TODAY’S LIFESTYLES

Buying milk used to mean picking from a few different-sized options that almost all came in plastic jugs and needed to be used within a week or so.

These days, that’s not the case. From milk that’s shelf stable (no refrigeration required until after opening) to lactose-free options, today’s milk fits into your lifestyle, not the other way around.

Here’s a quick guide to some of the new, innovative ways you can enjoy milk, whether you’re stocking up for the week, refueling after a workout, or craving the benefits of dairy with easier digestion.

High-protein milk: The natural goodness of real dairy milk, plus extra protein

What is high-protein milk?

The milk you love. Upgraded. That’s high‑protein milk.

It’s great for post-workouts or staying full longer.

High-protein milk, also called extra protein milk, is real dairy milk that has been ultra-filtered, a process that gently concentrates the good stuff — like protein — while filtering out some of the sugar.

Regular milk already packs a protein punch at 8 grams per serving, but high-protein versions nearly double that with up to 15 grams per serving, which is about 87% more protein than regular milk.

It’s also often lactose free, with a rich, creamy texture and smooth, delicious taste.

Think of it as milk that works harder for you — great for busy mornings, post‑workout pick-me-ups, or anytime you want more from your glass.

Shelf-stable milk: Now you can keep your milk right next to your pasta noodles

What is shelf-stable milk?

Shelf‑stable milk, also called aseptic milk, is real dairy milk. You’ll just spot it in the pantry aisle, not the dairy case.

It’s great for on the go or the little ones in your life.

It usually comes in small, grab-and-go cartons perfect for lunchboxes, road trips, or busy little hands.

So, how does it work? Fresh milk is quickly heated to kill bacteria and then sealed in a sterile, airtight package — a tag team process that keeps milk fresh without refrigeration until it’s opened. Once opened, though, it needs to go in the fridge just like any other milk — if any is left, that is.

Shelf-stable milk tastes just like the regular milk you know and love, and it has all the same nutrition. It’s smooth, versatile, and perfect for stocking up, saving fridge space, or having milk on hand whenever you need it.

Longer-lasting milk: Freshness that sticks around when life doesn’t slow down

What is longer-lasting milk?

Longer‑lasting milk, also called extended shelf‑life milk, is real dairy milk that lasts longer than regular milk — because sometimes life is easier when the “best by” date has some breathing room.

It’s great for busy households, those who love to stock up, and anyone who stresses about using up milk before the expiration date passes.

Gently pasteurized and bottled in special packaging, longer-lasting milk stays fresh in your fridge for more time (up to 65–90 days before opening!) You’ll find it in the refrigerated dairy case, just like you’re used to, and it has the same great nutrition and taste as regular milk.

That means less milk going to waste and more flexibility when grocery runs don’t happen exactly on schedule.

Longer-lasting milk pours, tastes, and cooks just like the milk you know.

Lactose-free milk: All the dairy goodness of regular milk with none of the potential discomfort

What is lactose-free milk?

This is the milk that your stomach loves back. Lactose‑free milk is still 100% real dairy milk — it has just been treated with a simple enzyme called lactase, which breaks down lactose into easier‑to‑digest sugars.

It’s great for anyone, whether you have a lactose sensitivity or not.

You get the same delicious taste as regular milk, with the same nutrients you expect, but without the tummy trouble for people with lactose sensitivities.

It’s great for cereal, coffee, cooking, or drinking straight from the glass.

Same milk vibes, way more comfortable.

It’s great for those who want something nourishing, uncomplicated, and budget-friendly.
