Harold and his wife, Bet, a longtime elementary teacher, are the sixth generation on their family farm. They have four adult children and five grandchildren. Harold is in business with his brothers, Lawrence and Michael, his three sons, three nephews and their families. They milk on four dairies, with approximately 350 cows on each. They raise all of their own replacement heifers and custom raise heifers for a neighbor. They crop around 3,400 acres, growing all of their own forages, dry hay and some grain. The family also has a large maple sugaring operation. Harold serves as treasurer of the New England Dairy Promotion Board. He is also a board member of Dairy Management Inc. and United Dairy Industry Association and was recently inducted into the Vermont Agricultural Hall of Fame.
