Lois, in partnership with her husband, John, milks 6,000 cows on three farms: Bristol Dairy and Catalpadale Dairy in Marshallville, Ohio, and Zido Valley Dairy in Wooster, Ohio. They also grow corn and alfalfa on 6,000 acres. Lois and John took over the fifth generation dairy, Catalpadale Dairy, in 1984 after graduating college with 150 cows and expanded the operation over the years. Lois was appointed to U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) National Dairy Promotion and Research Board in 2020, serving a three-year term. She is a licensed nurse practitioner and enjoys boating and water sports.
