Pride in Our Products
Dairy Farmers of America, Inc. (DFA) has a three-prong strategy for building markets and revenues for its dairy farmer members. That strategy includes joint ventures, brand development and manufacturingall geared toward vertical integration and capturing more of the consumer dollar to increase long-term member returns.
By taking this trilateral approach, DFAs manufacturing operations allow producers to offer customers a wide range of dairy-based products. DFAs product mix focuses on traditional, value-added, and brand categories including: fluid milk, cheese (American and Italian styles); Borden and Elsie branded cheese and food products; butter and cream products, shelf-stable and canning; and ingredients (dehydrated and food ingredients).
DFA uses this market basket approach as a model of diversification in product selection as it seeks to be the supplier of choice for domestic and international customers. Naturally, DFA is most well-known for its milk. DFA producers take great pride in the fact that they supply the marketplace with the largest quality fluid milk supply not just in the country, but in the world. (See also Milkshed.)
