DFA Cares Donates Milk to Those in Need this Holiday Season

More Than 4,300 Gallons of Milk Provided to Capital Area Food Bank in Washington D.C.

Through its DFA Cares Foundation, Dairy Farmers of America (DFA), a national farmer-owned dairy cooperative, is making good use of Northeast-Area milk this holiday season by providing a donation of more than 37,000 pounds or the equivalent of 4,300 gallons of milk to the Capital Area Food Bank in Washington D.C, which is part of the national Feeding America network.

DFA reports 2015 financial results

At the Cooperative’s Annual Meeting today, 
Dairy Farmers of America (DFA) officials reported net income of $94.1 million, compared to $43.1 million for 2014. The increase was attributable to strong performances from DFA’s commercial operations and affiliates, as unit sales were up and margins improved.

DFA’s net sales totaled $13.8 billion for 2015, compared to $17.9 billion in 2014. This decrease is primarily a result of lower milk prices. The all U.S. milk price averaged $17.08 per hundredweight in 2015 compared with $23.97 in 2014.

Annual meeting focuses on reimagining dairy

This week, more than 1,500 members and guests gathered in Kansas City for the Cooperative’s 18th Annual Meeting.

This year’s meeting theme – Dairy Reimagined – looks at how, from the farm to the dairy case, the possibilities are limitless for the industry. Guests were encouraged to join the Cooperative in challenging the status quo.

Dairy Farmers of America acquires sole ownership of DairiConcepts

Dairy Farmers of America (DFA) announced today that it would acquire 100 percent ownership of DairiConcepts, the Cooperative’s joint venture with Fonterra Co-operative Group Limited (Fonterra).

Fonterra and DFA have partnered in DairiConcepts as equal owners since 2000 when the joint venture was formed. DairiConcepts plays a key role in DFA’s strategy to further grow its ingredients division and extend its global marketing outreach, but was viewed as a non-core component of Fonterra’s strategy. The decision was made by both DFA and Fonterra to consolidate ownership.

Dairy Farmers of America breaks ground on new plant in Garden City, Kansas

Today, Dairy Farmers of America (DFA) officially announced plans to build a dairy ingredients plant in Garden City, Kansas. In a ceremony at its 156-acre site in Garden City, representatives from the Cooperative were joined by Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback, city and state officials and the area’s dairy farmers to break ground on the facility. The state-of-the-art plant will produce whole, skim and nonfat dry milk powder, as well as cream, and is a partnership between DFA and 12 of its member farms in Southwest Kansas.

Dairy Farmers of America celebrates one-year anniversary for Craigs Station Creamery

Today, Dairy Farmers of America (DFA) and eight local dairy farm families celebrated the one-year anniversary of Craigs Station Creamery, a unique milk plant located in Livingston County, New York.

Opening in the fall of 2014, Craigs Station Creamery is a first-of-its-kind facility, which combines the resources from DFA, along with sustainable and environmentally friendly technology and the traditional goodness of family farming.
