Through its DFA Cares Foundation, Dairy Farmers of America (DFA), a national dairy cooperative owned by family farmers, is making good use of Northeast Area milk by donating one truckload, or the equivalent of approximately 4,300 gallons of milk, to the Capital Area Food Bank in Washington, D.C., which is part of the national Feeding America network.

Today, Guida's Dairy, a farmer-owned, Connecticut-based milk processor joined state and local officials as well as representatives from Walmart to celebrate its farmer ownership and continued commitment to providing fresh, local milk from farm to table. Guida's Dairy currently has 225 local employees, processes milk from New England dairy farmers and supports Walmart's 10-year commitment to buy an additional $250 billion in products to support American jobs.

Through its DFA Cares Foundation, Dairy Farmers of America (DFA), a national dairy cooperative owned by family farmers, is making good use of Northeast Area milk by providing two truckloads of milk, which will be processed into 10,000 pounds of cheese, for the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank in Harrisburg, Pa. The food bank is part of the national Feeding America network and a member of Feeding Pennsylvania, a statewide association that promotes charitable food distribution, including dairy products.

Dairy Farmers of America (DFA), a national dairy cooperative owned by family farmers, recently celebrated the opening of DFA Garden City, a new, state-of-the-art dairy ingredients plant located in Southwest Kansas.

DFA Garden City is a partnership between DFA and 12 of its member farms in Southwest Kansas and will help support the industry’s continued growth in the region, as well as meet rising demand for U.S. dairy both domestically and globally.

DFA Acquires Cumberland Dairy

Acquisition expands DFA’s ownership into extended shelf life processing

Dairy Farmers of America (DFA), a national dairy cooperative owned by family farmers, announced today the acquisition of Cumberland Dairy; a family-owned processor of ultra-pasteurized dairy products located in Bridgeton, N.J.

Cumberland Dairy was founded in 1933 by Charles Catalana at a small, unassuming milk plant behind his family home. The company experienced tremendous growth through the 70s and 80s under the direction of Carmine Catalana III. Today, third-generation principals Carmine IV, Frank and David Catalana lead Cumberland’s 180 dedicated employees.

Students from the Kansas City area were given the unique opportunity to participate in the AdVenture Capital Farm-to-Table Challenge presented by Dairy Farmers of America (DFA), and supported by GENYOUth and Midwest Dairy Council. The event fostered student-led, dairy farm-to-table themed ideas to drive changes in their schools and communities.

DFA supports Hunger Action Month

Fundraising efforts generate nearly $15,000 to benefit Feeding America’s hurricane relief efforts, along with more than $50,000 in dairy product donations

In honor of Hunger Action Month, Dairy Farmers of America (DFA) members and employees celebrated the company’s core value of community by raising nearly $15,000 to benefit Feeding America’s Hurricane relief efforts. Additionally, several DFA brands are providing donations, totaling more than $50,000 worth of dairy products, to help support hurricane victims in Miami and Houston.

Money was raised through member and employee monetary donations to the DFA Cares Foundation online giving site. The DFA Cares Foundation also made a dollar-for-dollar match for every contribution, up to $5,000.
