DFA IDLING HUGHSON PLANT

Dairy Farmers of America (DFA), a national milk marketing cooperative owned by family dairy farmers, announced today that, after a careful review of its manufacturing operations and due to changing market conditions, it plans to idle its Hughson, Calif., manufacturing plant.

“Business decisions that impact people’s lives are never easy,” says Gary Stueve, DFA’s Chief Operating Officer, Western Area. “The employees at this facility have done an excellent job producing quality dairy ingredients, and we appreciate their hard work and dedication.”

Award Recognizes Outstanding Processing and Packaging Operations in the Food and Beverage Industry

Dairy Farmers of America’s (DFA) state-of-the-art ingredients plant in Garden City, Kan., recently received the Manufacturing Innovator of the Year Award from ProFood World magazine. The award was presented at ProFood Live in Chicago, Ill., and honors cutting-edge food and beverage manufacturing companies.

Award winners were judged based on the use of high-level technology advancements in processing and packaging machinery; level of automation, software and controls in use; new-to-the-industry uses of technology and major plant production efficiency and cost savings.

Dairy Farmers of America (DFA), a global food cooperative owned by family farmers, was recently honored as a finalist in two categories for FoodBev Media’s World Dairy Innovation Awards at the Global Dairy Congress, held in Warsaw, Poland. DFA’s headquarters building was a finalist in the “Sustainability/CSR Initiative” category and its Borden® Cheese Thick Cut Shreds was a finalist in the “Best cheese” category.

DFA Announces Sponsorship for the 2019 Sprint Accelerator Program

Dairy Farmers of America (DFA), a global dairy foods company owned by family farmers, recently announced plans to continue partnering with the Sprint Accelerator through 2019. The Accelerator, located in the Crossroads Arts District of Kansas City, is an innovative, 90-day program that helps accelerate and grow startup businesses. For the 2019 program, DFA will again sponsor both the ag tech and dairy food product segments.

DFA reports 2017 financial results

At the Cooperative’s Annual Meeting today, Dairy Farmers of America (DFA), officials reported net income of $127.4 million for 2017. DFA’s net sales totaled $14.7 billion for 2017, compared to $13.5 billion in 2016. This increase is due to unit sales growth as well as higher milk prices, which averaged $17.63 per hundredweight in 2017 compared with $16.30 in 2016.
