Cheese and Butter Plants Win Ten Awards in Dairy Product Contest

Kansas City, Mo. - Dairy Farmers of America, Inc. (DFA) is proud to be a participant in the 2007 World Dairy Expo, October 2-6, in Madison, Wis. DFA members and prospective members will want to be sure to stop by Booth #1213-1214 and learn more about all the cooperative has to offer. A variety of field staff and member services representatives will be on hand to answer questions and discuss the issues facing America’s dairy farmers.

“The World Dairy Expo is a great opportunity to learn more about DFA,” says Joe Burke, DFA Regional Manager in Dodgeville, Wis. “This year we will feature our Gold Standard Dairy Program as well as promote all of the services that DFA offers its members from medical insurance programs to our unique 401(k) program. We’ll also have drawings for door prizes, just for visiting our booth.”

In addition to exhibiting at the international dairy event, DFA participated in the Expo’s Championship Dairy Product Contest. Five DFA plants received ten awards in the cheese, butter and whey categories, taking home three first places, three seconds and four third-place honors.

DFA’s Plymouth, Wis. cheese plant swept the top three awards in the Pasteurized Process Cheese category, with first in colored American, second in white American and third in colored process cheese. Winning first in Cheddar and second in sweet whey was DFA’s Zumbrota, Minn. plant. Rounding out the first place awards was DFA’s New Wilmington, Pa. plant with a first in demineralized whey and a third in sweet whey. Placing second and third in provolone was DFA’s Turlock, Calif. plant, and DFA’s Keller’s Creamery plant in Winnsboro, Texas placed third in salted butter.
