Keller’s Creamery Recognized as a Top Supplier by Sam’s Club

March 9, 2007

Kansas City, Mo. - Dedicated teamwork and an attention to detail led to a prestigious award for Keller’s Creamery, the popular butter company owned by Dairy Farmer’s of America, Inc. (DFA).

Sam’s Club, the nation’s leading members-only warehouse, honored DFA’s Keller’s Creamery as the 2007 Co-managed Inventory Vendor of the Year. The honor is based on a company’s ability to provide Sam’s Club with the inventory they need – from the proper quantities to timely delivery. One of the group’s accomplishments was to shorten its lead time on order placement from 7-10 days to 3-6 days. The award was presented at the retailer’s annual supplier meeting in February in Kansas City, Mo. Keller’s supplies Sam’s Clubs across the country with butter produced under the Mid-America Farms label.

Mark Korsmeyer, president of DFA’s Dairy Food Products group, views this honor from Sam’s Club as a tremendous award. Korsmeyer, who oversees Keller’s, points out that Sam’s Club has thousands of suppliers and that only six awards are given out by Sam’s Club each year.

“We’re honored, and proud, but humbled by the recognition,” Korsmeyer says. He adds that the team working on the account for Wal-Mart has an extremely positive attitude and work ethic. “Whenever you have the right employee with the right attitude and you marry that with the expectations of the customer, you truly get a partnership and positive results.”

Annamarie West, Keller’s replenishment and traffic manager for the Sam’s Club account, accepted the award for Keller’s. West, who’s been with Keller’s for seven years, works on the account with Gretchen Engleman, an operations analyst with six years experience at Keller’s; Sherrie Hay, an account manager who’s been with Keller’s and its predecessor for 32 years; and Larry Weaver, vice president of sales for Keller’s, a 15-year veteran of the company.

“It’s a true team effort,” Weaver says. “And, as an organization, we’re very committed to providing Sam’s with the service they expect.”

Keller’s, which has been in business since 1906, celebrated its 100-year-anniversary last year by introducing Keller’s Spreadable Butter with Canola Oil. Keller’s also is known for its stick butter and holiday butter sculptures.
