DFA Reacts to Dairy Product Price Support Program Announcement

July 31, 2009

The Board and management of Dairy Farmers of America, Inc. are encouraged to see continued support for the dairy industry by the United States Department of Agriculture, Secretary Tom Vilsack and a growing number of congressional leaders. We have been active supporters of increasing dairy commodity prices under the Dairy Product Price Support Program, and believe it is an important next step in the broader effort to reverse the current dairy crisis. Every initiative we can successfully implement to bolster milk prices makes a vital difference to the dairy farmers who are fighting hard to maintain their livelihoods.

We are committed to continuing our work with the National Milk Producers Federation and other peers in the industry to identify additional available tools that will bring an end to this crisis and long-term solutions that put us on a solid path toward recovery.”
