DFA Invites Community to Celebrate June Dairy Month with Fun Run

June 18, 2010

RIPON, Calif. – More than 65 participants hit the Tidewater Bike Path at Library Park in Manteca, Calif., on June 12 for Dairy Farmers of America, Inc.’s (DFA) Inaugural Dairy Fun Run/Walk. Several of DFA’s local dairy farmer owners, the Manteca County Dairy Princess and Elsie the Cow® joined in the event, which was held in honor of National Dairy Month.

Runners and walkers showed their appreciation for the local dairy farming community by completing the one-mile course and drinking ice cold dairy products — including chocolate milk and Sport Shake — at the finish line to recharge after the workout.

“The Dairy Fun Run allowed us to educate the community about the nutritional value of dairy products, while showing our appreciation for all the hard work dairy farmers in our community put into their jobs every day,” said Glenn Wallace, chief operating officer of DFA’s Western Area. ”It was a terrific family atmosphere and a great time for everyone involved.”

After the walk, all registered participants received a t-shirt, prizes were raffled off and attendees enjoyed more dairy treats from sponsors, including Super Store Industries, Ruan, DFA Farm Services, Turlock Dairy & Refrigeration, Leprino Foods, Elk Grove Dairy Services and Silliker.
