DFA Hosts Member Appreciation Day at Zumbrota Plant

August 19, 2010

Dairy Farmers of America, Inc. (DFA), the nation’s leading dairy cooperative, will host a Member Appreciation Day at its Zumbrota, Minn., plant. The special event is meant to thank DFA families in Zumbrota and the surrounding communities for their continued support of the Cooperative. The celebration also will help connect members with their investment in products created through DFA’s Global Dairy Products Group. Production at the Zumbrota plant includes American-style cheese, Gouda, hard Italian cheese, dry whey and cheese/cream powders.

In addition, members will have the opportunity to participate in plant tours.

Approximately 30 DFA members are expected to attend. In addition, several employees of the plant and representatives of DFA’s Central Area will participate.

In addition to marketing milk, DFA is a dairy foods processor with investments in brands and plants that bring added value to members. The Zumbrota plant is one of 20 DFA plants nationwide, where a wide range of dairy products and ingredients are produced.

“As owners of the Cooperative, DFA members have invested in our plants,” said Lucy Schwartz, Zumbrota plant manager. “Much as we enjoy getting to know them on their farms and see the work they do to produce high-quality milk, we believe it is important that they have the opportunity to see their investments hard at work, too.”

Due to food safety and biosecurity policies, media planning to attend must RSVP prior to the event. Please contact Janine Smiley at 816-801-6716. Shorts and open-toed shoes will be strictly prohibited for those taking part in plant tours. No photography will be allowed inside the plant.
