National Day of the Cowboy

Proclaimed by the U.S. Senate in Resolution 138 for the first time on July 23, 2005, this sixth annual celebration pays homage to our cowboy and Western heritage, and honors working cowboys and cowgirls, rodeo athletes, Western musicians, cowboy poets, Western artists, ranchers and all others who contribute to the cowboy and Western culture in America today.

First designed by President Ronald Reagan in 1984, this month celebrates ice cream as fun and nutritious food that is enjoyed by a full 90 percent of the nation’s population.

Great Wisconsin Cheese Fest

The festival held in Little Chute, Wis., features a cheese breakfast, parade, cheese tasting, cheese-carving demo and cheesecake contest. Estimated attendance is 10,000.
