Dairy Farms of America Corporate Board
MOUNTAIN As chairman of the DFA Board of Directors since 2003, Tom is a member of the DFA Executive Committee and a number of other committees. In addition, Tom is a member of the board of Dairy Management, Inc. and the Western Dairyfarmers Promotion Association. He chairs the Trade Policy Committee for the U.S. Dairy Export Council and was reappointed by the president of the United States to the Agricultural Policy Advisory Committee for Trade. For two decades, Tom served as chairman of the board for the National Milk Producers Federation. A recipient of 1994 Colorado Livestock Producer of the Year, he was inducted into the 2001 Colorado Agriculture Hall of Fame. Tom has been the owner of Camerlo Dairy since 1963. SOUTHWEST Charles is a fourth generation dairy farmer who has been dairying since 1967. He farms 350 acres and milks 200 cows. With his extensive background in dairying, Charles was named the chairman of the National Milk Producers Federation. He also sits on the boards of Dairy MAX; Dairy Management, Inc.; and United Dairy Industry Association. He is a former chairman of Associated Milk Producers, Inc. For DFA, he serves on the Government, Member and Public Relations Committee and is chair of the Risk Management and Employee Retirement committees. Additionally, Charles is treasurer of DFA’s Southwest Area Council.
CENTRAL Bill and his wife milk 100 cows on a 340-acre farm, where they have utilized intensive grazing for the past 15 years. He is a vice chairman of the board and chairman of the DFA Value-Added Committee. He also is the chairman of the United Dairy Industry Association and vice chairman of the Midwest Dairy Association. Additionally, he is a member of the Board of the Agriculture Future of America. Prior to DFA, Bill served as vice chairman of Mid-America Dairymen, Inc.
SOUTHEAST In addition to serving as first vice chairman of the DFA Corporate Board of Directors, Randy also is chairman of the DFA Southeast Area Council and the DFA Executive Committee. He serves on the boards of several dairy organizations, including National Milk Producers Federation, Missouri Dairy Association, Missouri State Milk, Southern Marketing Agency, Dairy Cooperative Marketing Association, Inc., Milk Processor Education Program and Dairy Promotion Inc. He and his wife milk 200 Holsteins and maintain a cow-calf operation. SOUTHEAST Ryan and his father milk 300 cows and raise beef cattle on a 900-acre, third-generation farm. Ryan is the vice chairman of DFA’s Fluid Marketing and Public Policy, and Government, Member and Public Relations committees. He is active in his community and serves as a member of the Midwest Dairy Ozark Area Promotion Board and County Farm Bureau Board. On a national level, he serves on the board of directors of the Livestock and Poultry Dairy Committee, the National Mastitis Committee and the National Dairy Board. He also serves in a leadership capacity as chairman of U.S. Congressman John Boozman’s Agricultural Committee, and is a past chairman of the State Farm Bureau Dairy Committee. SOUTHWEST Keith is on the DFA Fluid Marketing and Public Policy Committee and also serves on the board of DFA’s Southwest Area Council. He represents the interests of dairymen in his area as a member of the board of the Texas Association of Dairymen. Keith also is a Hico ISD School District trustee and is a former voting delegate for Associated Milk Producers, Inc. Keith started in the dairy business in 1981 and milks 1,000 cows with two sons. NORTHEAST Dairying since 1964, Joyce milks 200 cows and farms 850 acres of corn, alfalfa, soybeans, small grain and grass hay. She is a member of the DFA Value-Added and DEPAC committees. She also serves as chair of both DFA Cares and the DFA Credential Committee. She also is secretary of DFA’s Northeast Area Council. Her influence reaches beyond DFA as she is a member of the National Dairy Promotion Board for her area, Pennsylvania Dairy Stakeholders, Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association Board, Pennsylvania Holstein Association, Dairy Council and Upper Chesapeake Bay Area Southeast United Dairy Industry Association. Joyce was the recipient of the National Dairy Woman in 1993 and the Pennsylvania Dairy Woman in 1996. SOUTHEAST Mickey milks 700 cows in partnership with his two sons and father-in-law on a fourth-generation dairy farm. They grow 800 acres of no-till corn, graze 1,500 acres and manage 2,000 acres of timber land. He is vice chairman of the DFA Southeast Area Council and a member of the DFA Finance and Budget, and Audit committees. He also is president of the American Dairy Association of Alabama and sits on the Southeast United Dairy Industry Association board of directors. Through the years, Mickey has held a number of positions with the Alabama Farmers Federation Board, including Morgan County president, State Dairy Committee chairman and Young Farmers’ Committee vice chairman. Mickey was appointed to the Governor’s Commission on the Future of Family Farming and Agriculture and Agribusiness. NORTHEAST David’s family has been a part of DFA and its predecessor cooperatives for 52 years. David has been a member of the Northeast Area Council, and was a DFA delegate from 1989-2004. He serves as a director of the Deer Creek Scenic River Advisory Board. He also is a life member of the University of Maryland Alumni Association and an elder at his church. As the fourth generation to farm on the family land, David and his two sons milk 200 cows and operate a custom forage harvesting business. SOUTHEAST Glen has been in the dairy business for 30 years and, in addition to milking 300 Jerseys on 360 acres, has a 100-cow-calf beef operation. He is a member of DFA’s Southeast Area Council Resolutions Committee. Glen also is president of both the Regional United Dairy Herd Improvement Association and the Advisory Committee of the Dairy Records Processing Center in Raleigh. He is an active member of the South Carolina Farm Bureau Dairy Committee, the American Jersey Cattle Club, the National All-Jersey, and the Dairy Shrine, and he also is a delegate to Southeast United Dairy Industry Association. He serves on the South Carolina National Animal Identification System Steering Committee. In 2006, he was named Laurens County Agriculturalist of the Year and Laurens County Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Quarter. CENTRAL As an elected leader on DFA’s Central Area Council, Craig has served on the Council’s Audit, Election and Redistricting committees. He is a former DFA Young Cooperator and represents DFA on the Environmental Protection Agency Dairy Task Force and the Wisconsin Animal Identification Consortium. Craig also serves as a director with the Dairy Herd Improvement Association, is a board member of Premier Cooperative, and is serving on his county’s Farm Technology Days Committee. Craig and his wife have been in the dairy business for 32 years. They operate a 500-cow dairy, farm 750 acres of crops, and own and operate a milling company and a manure injection business. SOUTHEAST Farming since 1978, Mike milks 110 cows on a 350-acre forage-based dairy. He is a member of the DFA Finance and Budget and DEPAC committees. Mike also is the president of the Tate County Farm Bureau, vice chairman of Dairy Management Inc., the associate director of Southeast United Industry Association, and the vice chairman of the Mississippi American Dairy Association. Mike is on the Mississippi State Dairy Advisory Committee and is on the Pastor Parrish Committee at his church. He served in the past on the AMPI Resolutions Committee. Secretary/Treasurer MIDEAST Tom farms 700 acres and milks 200 cows with his son. He has been in the dairy business and has been a member of a cooperative since 1964. Heavily involved in DFA, he currently serves as the secretary/treasurer of the board and chairman for the Mideast Area Council. He is on the DFA’s Executive, Retirement, Risk Management and DPI committees and serves as chairman of DFA’s Finance and Budget Committee. He also serves on the boards for MidAm Capital, Pennsylvania Dairy Promotion Program and Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association. He formerly was vice chairman of MMI. In addition, he is the treasurer of the Penwest Conference of the United Church of Christ and is vice president of his church. CENTRAL Along with a partner, Larry farms 1,000 acres of corn, soybeans, alfalfa and grass hay and has beef cows and 88 dairy cows. Larry is vice chairman of the DFA Fluid Marketing and Public Policy and DEPAC committees. He also is vice chairman of the Central Area Council, and chairman of the Region II Central Area Council. A former board member for the Missouri Farmers’ Association, he currently serves as a member of the board of Roberts Dairy Co. and is secretary of the Midwest Dairy Association’s St. Louis Division. NORTHEAST In addition to milking 220 cows and growing corn and hay on 600 acres with his two sons and wife, Lew is a member of the DFA Government, Member and Public Relations Committee. He also is a member of the boards of ACDI, the Pennsylvania Dairy Promotion Program, National Dairy Board and the National Milk Producer Federation Education Board. He serves as an elder at his church. His past experience includes holding the chairmanship position at both the Pennsylvania Dairy Stakeholders and Eastern Milk Producers, where he served as president. Lew is past vice chairman of Milk Marketing, Inc. SOUTHWEST Buster’s work in the industry has received attention from his fellow Texans. He was the recipient of the New Mexico Agriculturalist of the Year, received the New Mexico Entrepreneurial Award and was honored by College of the Southwest with the Free Enterprise Award. Buster milks 4,000 Holsteins and 1,000 Jerseys with his wife and son, and partners in a 1,000-cow Jersey dairy with another DFA Young Cooperator couple. Buster is a member of the DFA Finance and Budget Committee. He formerly served as past president of the New Mexico Holstein Association, director of Select Sires, trustee for the College of the Southwest and as a county commissioner. He is a member on his county’s water board. MIDEAST The recipient of the 1992 Indiana Dairy Farm Family of the Year and the 1996 Indiana Master Farmer, Don milks 100 Holsteins and farms 650 acres with his wife, son and daughter-in-law. He is the secretary of the DFA Fluid Marketing and Public Policy Committee and the DFA Mideast Area Council. Besides his work with DFA, he is a member of the National Dairy Board and the United Dairy Industry Association Board. He also serves as president of the Milk Promotion Services of Indiana and as secretary/treasurer of Steuben County Rural Electric Co-op. Don is the former president of the Steuben Dairy Herd Improvement Association and former secretary of the DeKalb and Steuben Artificial Breeding Association. MOUNTAIN Brian owns his farm with his father and three brothers. Together they milk 1,700 cows on three different dairies and farm 1,000 acres of their own land and 1,500 acres of additional land. Brian has been a member of the Mountain Area Council since 2002, currently serving as the first vice chairman and as a member of its Marketing Committee. MOUNTAIN Les and his wife milk 650 cows and farm 300 acres of forage crops. In 1995, he was selected as a Colorado Outstanding Young Farmer. Les is chairman of DFA’s Mountain Area Council and is on the DFA Executive Committee, as well as the DFA Audit and DEPAC committees. He is chairman of the National Dairy Board and is a member of the National Milk Producers Federation, serving as its political action committee chairman. In addition, Les is a member of the U.S. Meat Export Federation, the National Cooperative Business Association and the FFA Agriculture Advisory Council. SOUTHWEST Larry is on the board of the DFA Southwest Area Council. He also serves on the National Dairy Promotion and Research Board and the Dairy MAX Board. In his home state, he is a member of the Texas Association of Dairymen and the Texas Cattle Producers Board. Larry and his son milk 2,100 cows on 2,500 acres. They grow corn, wheat and forages on 1,400 irrigated acres, raise their own replacement herd and have a beef cow-calf operation. Vice Chairman of the Board NORTHEAST Vice chairman of the DFA Corporate Board of Directors, Jerrel has been dairying since 1984, and also manages poultry and row crops. He chairs the DFA Northeast Area Council, the DFA Government, Member and Public Relations and Corporate Resolutions committees. He also is a member of the DFA Executive Committee. Jerrel serves as treasurer of the Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association and is a member of the United Dairy Industry Association Board. CENTRAL Bill and his wife farm 750 acres of corn and soybeans and milk 85 registered Holsteins. He is on the DFA Finance and Budget Committee and is secretary of the Central Area Council (CAC), chairman of Region I CAC and a delegate for District 114. Bill also is active in the community and serves on the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board and the Clark County Economic Development Committee and is treasurer for the Greenwood Schools’ Board of Education. He was honored with the FFA Outstanding Service Award for Alumni. CENTRAL Dan and his wife, son, and Dan’s brothers milk 100 Holsteins and produce wheat, corn, soybeans and milo on 4,100 acres. Dan serves as the chairman of the Central Area Council and is on DFA’s Finance and Budget Committee. In his capacity with DFA, he is on the Hiland-Roberts Operating Committee and the Agri-Max Financial Advising Committee. Dan is the chairman of the Health Influences subcommittee of the Cattleman’s Beef Board and a deacon and president of his church. In the past, he served as chairman of the Ethics Committee for the Associated Milk Producers Inc. Southern Region, as past president of the Sedgwick County Farm Bureau Agriculture Association and as a member of the Wichita Agri-Business Council. He is the recipient of the Sedgwick County Farm Bureau Natural Resources Award and the Sedgwick County Farm Bureau Distinguished Service Award. He and his family also have been honored with the Kansas Farm Bureau 4th District Farm Family of the Year Award. MIDEAST Together with his wife and son, Doug milks 85 Holsteins and Brown Swiss, produces corn, soybeans, wheat and alfalfa, and feeds out bull calves on 450 acres. A leader within the dairy industry, Doug has served four years on DFA’s Mideast Area Council and is on DFA’s DEPAC Committee. He also serves on the board of the Ohio Dairy Producers and the Audit Committee of the American Dairy Association/Dairy Council Mideast. He is a trustee of his County Farm Bureau and a member of the Coba Select Sires and the Harvestland Co-op. CENTRAL The secretary of the DFA Government, Member and Public Relations Committee, Steve also is on the Compensation and DEPAC committees. Steve formerly served on the Mid-America Dairymen, Inc. Board. Steve milks 200 cows and farms 800 acres of corn, soybeans and alfalfa hay in partnership with his son, daughter and son-in-law. NORTHEAST Ralph’s dairy farm has been in the family 125 years. He and he and his sons milk 100 Holsteins on 333 acres and their operation was named the Vermont Dairy Farm of the Year in 2006. They received a similar honor, the Franklin County Dairy of the Year, in 1983. Ralph is on the DFA Fluid Marketing and Public Policy Committee and is on the Northeast Area Council Board. He is the president and past vice president of St. Albans Cooperative Creamery, and a member of the New England Dairy Promotion Board and of the CWT Committee on the National Milk Producers Federation Board. For 13 years he served on his town’s school board and was chairman for 10 of those years. Ralph is a trustee for his church. He also was past director of the Genex Cooperative for 11 years and past treasurer of United Dairy Industry Association. WESTERN Pete milks 450 cows on 80 acres of land, and raises all of his own replacements. He has served on the Western Area Council since 1998, as well as its Marketing Committee. He previously served on the Corporate Board for DFA from 1998 through 2002. MIDEAST Urban began his career in dairy farming with his father in the late 1950s. He and his wife, together with two of their seven children, milk 200 Holsteins and raise corn, soybeans, wheat and alfalfa on 800 acres. Active in many industry and civic organizations, he is a member of the DFA Value-Added Committee and is on the Mideast Council. He also is on the milk promotion board of the American Dairy Association/Dairy Council Mideast, Mideast Milk Marketing Agency, Mid America Cooperative Board, Universal Cooperative Board, C.F. Industries and the Marion Township Charities Committee. He is chairman of Mercer Landmark Cooperative and a board member of the Marion Mutual Insurance Company. He also is a past chairman of Countrymark Cooperative, and member of the Marion Township Zoning Board. He is a council member for his church and is on its cemetery board. WESTERN A member of the DFA Value-Added Committee, George also is secretary of the Western Area Council and chairman of its Membership and Quality Committee. He is a former member of the National Commission on Dairy Policy, and former president of the California Dairy Campaign, Sonoma County Farm Bureau and Associated Dairymen. In the late 1980s, he chaired the Sonoma County Planning Commission and chaired its general plan update. He milks 650 to 700 cows with his two sons and was named Sonoma County Dairyman of the Year in 1977. The family farms 1,100 acres of silage and hay. SOUTHWEST Greg’s father started the family’s dairy in 1955 with 80 cows – processing and delivering milk. Today, Greg milks 1,600 cows, raises his replacements and farms approximately 40 acres. Greg serves as secretary of the Southwest Area Council, is chairman of its Hauling Committee and a member of its Finance Committee. MIDEAST CENTRAL Doug is on the DFA Finance and Budget and Executive committees and is chairman of the Central Area Council and DFA’s Legal Committee. He also is a member of the board of the National Dairy Board, the National Milk Producers Federation and the Nebraska Dairy Council. He formerly served as chairman of his church. Doug farms 2,500 acres of corn, soy beans and alfalfa and milks 185 cows with two sons. He is recipient of the Proud to be a Nebraska Farmer Award. Vice Chairman of the Board SOUTHWEST Wayne is vice chairman of the DFA Board of Directors. He and his son have a dairy, beef and farming operation. He serves as chairman of both the DFA Southwest Area Council and DFA Audit Committee and is on the DFA Finance and Budget, Dairy Promotion, Inc., Export, Legal and Executive committees. Away from DFA, he has served as chairman of the Western Area Associated Milk Producers Inc. (AMPI) and treasurer of AMPI. He also was a National Milk Producers Federation Board member. MIDEAST Jerry has been in the dairy business since 1976. He’s been the sole owner of his dairy operation since 1986, milking 250 cows and farming 700 acres of corn and alfalfa. He is the current Mideast Area Council vice-chairman and serves on DFA’s Legal, Finance and Budget, and Credentials committees. He has served as an emergency medical technician since 1982 with his local ambulance service. SOUTHEAST Operating a Grade A dairy since 1970, Lloyd raises Holstein steers, alfalfa and corn silage with his wife and son. A member of the DFA Finance and Budget and DEPAC committees, he has been a Southeast Area Council member since 1998. He serves as secretary of the United Federation of DHIA. Lloyd is director of the Virginia-ADA, is a Southeast United Dairy Industry Association farm network spokesperson, a director of the Montgomery County Farm Bureau and a Virginia State Dairymen’s Association ex-officio director. In the past, Lloyd served as a director for both Dairymen Inc. and for the Mid Am Cooperative Corporate Board. SOUTHEAST Larry and his daughter milk 140 cows, grow silage corn and hay, and raise a small herd of beef cows on 700 acres. He was honored with the FFA American Farmer Degree and as the Honorary Star Farmer. He also won Grand Champions and Premier Breeder and Exhibitor Awards. Larry is the current chairman of DFA’s DEPAC and Fluid and Public Policy Marketing committees and is on the boards of the Southeast Area Council, the Missouri Dairy Association and Midwest Dairy Promotion Board. He also serves as the chairman of the DFA SEAC Ozark region. Active in the industry he also is on the National Dairy Board, County Farm Bureau Board, and is chairman of the Congressional Ag Advisory Committee. He formerly was the treasurer of Mid-Am Cooperative and served on the Missouri Dairy Association Board. MOUNTAIN Ellis serves on the Mountain Area Council and is chairman of the Quality Committee and the Operations Committee. He is chairman of both the Franklin County Planning/Zoning Committee and the Cub River Irrigation Board of Directors Steering Committee. Ellis also is a member of the Advisory Committee to the College of Agriculture at Utah State University and the Idaho United Dairymen. He works with the youth groups at his church and was formerly a board member of the Farm Bureau and the Idaho Holstein Association. Ellis owns and operates a 250-Holstein dairy with his son. They farm 400 acres of land and operate an intensive grazing operation. SOUTHEAST George and his brother farm 140 acres of land and milk 105 cows. George is on the Southeast Area Council and the Valley of Virginia Milk Producers: Shenandoah’s Pride. He also serves on the boards for the Virginia American Dairy Association, United Dairy Herd Improvement Association and the Virginia State Dairymen’s Association. MIDEAST In a family partnership with his wife and father, Terry milks 120 cows and raises silage corn, grain, tobacco and grass hay on 600 acres. A member of the DFA Government, Member and Public Relations Committee, he also is on the DEPAC Committee, the Mideast Area Council and the Mideast Legislative Regulatory Committee. Terry is president of the Henry County Farm Bureau, state director of the Kentucky Farm Bureau, vice president of American Dairy Association of Kentucky, and a member of the board of directors of Southeast United Dairy Industry Association. He also is a commissioner on the Henry County Planning and Zoning Board. Terry was formerly a board member for Milk Marketing, Inc., the Kentucky Milk Producers and the Southern States Advisory Board. NORTHEAST - DAIRYLEA WESTERN Fred farms 2,000 acres and milks cows with his son and son-in-law. A member of the DFA Western Area Council, he also serves as its second vice president. He is a member of the DFA Government, Member and Public Relations Committee and the Cattlemen’s Beef Board. NORTHEAST Ed and his partner milk 180 cows and farm 600 acres on a third-generation farm. He is the vice chairman of the Northeast Area Council and on the DFA Compensation and Government, Member and Public Relations committees. He also serves as DFA’s representative on three National Milk committees: Foreign Trade, Environmental and Scholarship. Ed is the New York Milk Promotion Board vice chairman, and is on the subcommittees for Food Science and Economic Evaluation. He is a member of the Northeast Cooperative Council and formerly served as its president. He also in on Senator Hillary Clinton’s Ag Advisory Board; the Schoen, Stewart, Young Pricing Committee; and he’s a delegate to the North American/European Union Conference. He formerly was vice chairman of Eastern Milk Producers; secretary of Milk Marketing, Inc.; and a member of the Cornell Food Institute. SOUTHWEST CENTRAL SOUTHEAST Jerry has been in the dairy business since 1970 and currently farms 476 acres, milks 175 cows and raises all of his own replacements. He is the third vice chairman of DFA’s Southeast Area Council and has spent the last four years on the board of the Texas Agricultural Cooperative Council. He serves on the Texas Beef Council and the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association. NORTHEAST - DAIRYLEA Milking 700 cows on 2,000 acres in partnership with his sons, Sandy also grows corn, alfalfa and grass hay. He serves on several DFA committees, including Finance and Budget; Government, Member and Public Relations; and Value-Added. A member of the Dairylea Cooperative Board, he also is president of the Northeast Cooperative Council. Sandy additionally is on the boards of American Dairy Association and Dairy Council, Dairy Relief, and the National Dairy Board, serving on its Finance and Milk Committee. He also is a member of the Farm Bureau and Cooperative Extension in St. Lawrence County. CENTRAL Charles and his son milk 140 cows on 850 acres and have a second facility for young stock. Charles has served on the Central Area Council for the past three years and chaired the Reorganization Committee on Election Procedures. He spent six years as a director of the Deerfield Farmers Cooperative, is a member of the Holstein Association, the Frontier FS Cooperative and is on the Wisconsin Federation of Cooperatives Committee. WESTERN Bill and his sons own Bullfrog Farms and Desert Dunes Dairy. They milk 3,000 cows and farm 1,600 acres. Bill is the first vice chairman of the Western Area Council. WESTERN Case milks 1,150 cows on three locations with his brother and son. He is a vice chairman on the Western Area Council and chairman of the Membership and Quality Committee. He serves on three Sacramento County agricultural organization boards: Farm Bureau, the Agriculture Advisory Committee and the county fair. CENTRAL Rod and his wife operate Raw-Saw Dairy Farm where they milk 56 cows on 560 acres. They also raise corn, alfalfa, wheat and soybeans. As a member of DFA’s Central Area he served on the redistricting committee. Prior to joining DFA, he served as district chairman for a predecessor co-op, Mid-America Dairymen, Inc., and as secretary-treasurer for Underwood Co-op Creamery. He presently serves as president of the West Otter Tail Soil and Water Board, and director for West Minnesota Rural Conservation and Development. He is a past president of the West Otter Tail Dairy Herd Improvement Association. CENTRAL Secretary of the DFA Finance and Budget Committee, Rob also is on the Credentials and the International Dairy Trade Policy committees. He is the chairman of the Nominating Committee for the Iowa Dairy and is a member of the Nutrition Advisory Committee and the Pekin Community Dollars for Scholars Board. He served as a Jackson Township Trustee for six years and is a deacon and moderator at his church. Rob milks 275 cows and raises corn, soybeans, alfalfa and pasture grass on a 750-acre farm. He was named a Star Farmer for Southeast Iowa. He has a love for running which is evident in his work as the 5K Race Director for the Skunk River Stampede 5K, Spring Fever 5K and One Mile Run. |
