More than three-hundred dairy farm families and 39 Dairy Farmers of America employee families reside in the areas of Louisiana and Mississippi hardest hit by Hurricane Katrina. And although you may not be seeing it on television - these families are struggling to continue their day to day activities because of the devastation caused by the storm.

Randy Mooney is First Vice Chairman of DFA's dairy farmer Board of Directors and serves as Chairman for DFA's Southeast Area Council - the area including Louisiana and Mississippi. Mooney says DFA members in the Southeast Area are facing new problems everyday.

The full economic impact of Katrina on these farmers is still unknown - but Mooney says each obstacle they're forced to overcome will ultimately have an impact on their bottom lines.
