The mission of Farm Safety 4 Just Kids is to promote a safe farm environment to prevent health hazards, injuries, and fatalities to children and youth. Accidents kill too many children When statistics involve the young, the news about farm accidents takes on an even more important role. The farm is a wonderful place to live. But with all of its modern technology and equipment, farms can also be dangerous places for families to live, play and work. It doesnt have to be that way, and that is why
Farm Safety 4 Just Kids (FS4JK) exists. As a not-for-profit organization,
Farm Safety 4 Just Kids teaches farm families how to protect their most
precious commoditiestheir kids. DFA is a proud silver sponsor of FS4JK
The sad story that is ending well for kids nationwide In 1986, 11-year old Keith Algreen suffocated in a gravity flow wagon of shelled corn on his family's Iowa farm. After her son's death, Keith's mother, Marilyn Adams, vowed that she would spare other families from the pain of losing a child. So, she began to promote farm safety and, in that process, discovered that a high number of children are injured or killed each year on U.S. farms.
