Scholarships

At DFA, we are committed to the future of the dairy industry. We know that it is imperative to invest in the next generation of industry leaders. That’s why we established DFA’s scholarship program.

Last year, 14 students received scholarships that totalled $15,740. Scholarships are available to students pursuing a career in the dairy industry and majoring in one of these fields:

• Dairy herd management/production
• Large animal veterinary medicine
• Marketing/economics/finance
• Processing/manufacturing
• Communications/journalism
• Quality assurance
• Dairy nutrition
• Dairy foods
• Education
• Engineering
• Policy
• Genetics
• Law
• Others

Eligibility

• Applicants must be pursuing a career in the dairy industry.
• Applicants must be enrolled in a two- or four-year accredited college, university or trade school. High school seniors and post graduates are also eligible to apply.

Applications

Applications are accepted November through January each year and must include two letters of recommendation and the most recent high school or college transcript. Applications may be submitted online, e-mailed, faxed or mailed.

Winners will be selected based on the following criteria:

• Applicant’s commitment and passion to have a career in the dairy industry, and responses to three essay questions
• Extracurricular activities, awards, recognition and work experience
• Academic achievement
• Financial need

Dairy industry supporters are invited to join DFA in investing in the future of the dairy industry. Contributions should be made payable to the DFA Scholarship Foundation and mailed with the contribution form below. The Foundation is tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service.
